What started with DDT highlighted in Rachel Carson's "Silent Spring" is now neonicotinoids. Used heavily by farmers, the chemical pesticide impacts bees and other pollinators. And the birds. Bird populations have declined by 29 percent since 1970 in the U.S. and Canada.
